At&t online credit check question? Please help!?

Hi! I wanted a iphone reallllly bad so my dad said he will open an account with at&t and get me an iphone. So we went on att.com and clicked on the iphone 3gs and clicked on what kind of plan we wanted. Then it asked for the social security, credit card, and billing address info and we put it in. and it took and charged the card for the amount owed “today”. And it said Your order is successful here is your confirmation number. We also got an email saying order confirmation number. Does this mean the credit check went through and we are recieving our phone because on the bottom of the email it said Please note- the phone will be shipped via overnight shipping subject the following, credit authothrization, inventory availability, and correct address. But why would it say order successful it didnt go through? Usually in-store when they hit submit it tell thems right away, so what does this mean?

Ok basically i wanna get a contract for the iPhone but theres a few questions need answering before i can ok….

I;m not sure about the first question. They may be able to do it if they have your permission but I couldn’t be 100%.

If she has a slightly bad credit history then she will have to make a ‘down payment’ which will be returned to her on (usually) the 7th bill (ie in 7 months she will see a credit of the amount she had to pay upfront on her bill). The amount she will have to pay will vary. It could be £50, it could be £300 or more!

I think this one depends on the network. You will most likely have to pay SOMETHING for it buyt not nearly as much as you would pay for a PAYG one.

I have cable TV connected directly to digital age you used to prehistoric TV I had before. Freeeview has the channels and I would like to record things at Christmas. LCDs inherently suffer problems with motion playback. They suffer from motion blur (ghost trails). This is compensated for with the 120Hz/240Hz refresh rates. This feature helps out a lot, but is not 100%. And you are expected to pay a price premium for this add-on.

CCFL LCDs have muted colors, grey blacks, and so-so contrast. This is compensated for with the modern LED LCD. The LED backlight provides a massive jump in quality in regard to those 3 things. It brings it to a near Plasma/CRT/DLP level.

But in smaller sets, LCDs are the go to choice. So for the time being they will certainly still fill an important need there. And there also offer a certain sense of familiarity for many, as LCD computer monitors have been the norm for so long now.

Plasmas are inherently near instantaneous in their refresh rate. They are flawless in motion playback. While you might see some tagged with 480Hz or 600Hz sub-field motion drives, this is not a refresh rate. Its more so marketing to trick consumers (because of LCD’s refresh rates). But in reality the technology just works quite differently (its more like your old CRT/tube set).

Plasmas inherently deliver vivid color, true blacks, and deep contrast. They do this right out of the box. They are a better overall image. And so you get a better image and perfect motion playback without having to pay anything extra.

Plasmas were not always this good a choice though, they have improved greatly over the years. But because of those past problems they do currently suffer from many myths and misconceptions. The main ones being that they suffer from burn-in, they are more expensive, they have shorter life spans, and they are energy hogs.

Modern Plasmas do not suffer from burn-in. After they are conditioned, you would have to actually work hard to accomplish a burn-in. To condition a new set all you need to do is keep the brightness and contrast turned way down for the first 100-200 hours of use. After that optimize and enjoy.

Plasmas are not more expensive than LCD rivals anymore. Any especially with LCDs needing high end features like 120Hz and LED backlights to compete. Those features often make LCD far more expensive to buy.

Plasmas do not have shorter life spans. The reputable brands will deliver models that are rated to 60,000 – 100,000 hours. That basically means that in 10 years time, at 8 hours a day, 365 days a year, you would only really see at most about a 10% loss in brightness. So the set is likely well useable for beyond 10 years.

Current Plasma models are now energy star certified. This means no more being power hogs against LCDs. They can match LCDs in this regard. But every model is different. There are some LCDs that still perform better, and there are some LCDs that perform much worse. It changes ever year as new models come out.

Typically it is recommended to stick with well known brands. The expectation is that they will deliver better image quality and long term reliability for the consumer. But in reality, that’s not always the case. Consumers should dig deeper into specific models as well. Most manufacturers offer lesser quality and higher quality models. So a higher quality model from a possibly lesser regarded brand may actually outperform the entry level model from the so called superior brand.

In Plasma technology, some of the more visible brands are Pioneer, Panasonic, Samsung, LG, and Vizio. Start with Panasonic, they are the leader in Plasma now (since Pioneer is getting out of the business). They will give you the best image quality bang for the dollar.

In LCD technology, some of the more visible brands are Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Sharp, LG, Toshibia, and Vizio. Start with Samsung if you go LCD. They are the world leader in LCD. Sony is right there with them though, so look to them as well.

Honestly I would recommend Best Buy. Not a huge fan of big box stores at all, but they have a lot of TV sales. And you can often get a good deal from them. I’ve seen the Panasonic 42″ plasmas go on sale during the big sale points (like Father’s Day).

Otherwise go with a wholesaler club. Look for a Costco or Sam’s Club or something like that in your area. They would have solid pricing all year around. So you don’t have to wait out a good sale then.

I am looking to reduce costs an streamline in a few areas.?

I currently useCable for my High Speed Internet, and Direct TV for my Satellite TV. And am thinking of using VOIP, Cable cor my phone service. Here are my questions:
1. How does Cable compare to Satellite TV with High Definition? Better? Worse?
2. Has anyone used VOIP, Telephone service over a cable connection? Comcast? Vonage? Any others? Does it work as well as a regular phone service like ATT?
3. Is DSL Broadband as good as cable? A fast? Both would have the same 6 MBPS.
Any thoughts on any or all would be appreciated… Thanks….

Cable beats satellite in many ways, and some ways satellite is better.

Contracts: Winner: Cable.

Cable typically does not do contracts, yet satellite will easily lock you in for a year or two. So if you don’t like your service, you’re hosed.

Equipment: Winner: Cable

Though you may get equipment deals with satellite service, you still have to pay them for the service (dvr, hd). With cable, you never own the box so if it breaks, they come out and fix it. If a better style comes out, you can replace it. Versus satellite, where you may have to shell out quite a bit for the latest box.

Picture quality: Winner in many cases is cable:

If cabke in your area has a digital simulcast (i believe most comcast systems do) then it’s the best of both worlds. you’ll have all digital picture on all channels coming through your cable boxes and still have analog service where you can plug in cable into a regular tv and still get 70 channels.

With satellite, you have to have a box on every tv and pay per month for the privelige.

Price: Satellite if you have ONE television. When you start hooking up multiple tv’s, and adding dvrs and hd boxes, satellite quickly get as expensive or more. In my situation, I have three tv’s… One tv with an hd dvr, one regular hd box, and standard cable (70 channels – no box) on a third. with satellite, I’d pay considerably more for similar service – both upfront and per month.

VoIP works as good as your cable connection. It doesn’t take up too much bandwith, so most people don’t notice when the service is in use. VoIP is cheap, but you get what you pay for. sometimes you pick up the phone and it doesn’t work or your conversations break up. it’s like a cell phone – sometimes you drop calls, sometimes it goes straight to voice mail or you break up. My voip works relatively well, but im on a 15meg verizon fios fiber optic connection. still, it’s not perfect. jitter and qos are the real killers for voip. check myspeed.visualware.com and do their voip test to check your connection.

if you want your phone to work every time you pick it up (including power outages!) stick with copper pots service. cable voip is much better and has a battery backup for power outages, but the battery will die after several hours.

dsl is as good as cable, depending on the speed you can get from your dsl provider. dsl speed varies by your distance and the quality of lines from the central office or rt from your home. dsl speeeds are much more consistent to the internet, as cable can fluctuate during busy times of the day.

for 95% of people the dsl offering works just fine and is usually less expensive than calbe.

I would take dsl at 6meg over cable at 6meg for the consistency. However, comcast has uses a technology called power boost that temporarily uncaps your modem to take advantage of extra available bandwith in your node if you’re doing large downloads. you can get up to 12meg for the first few minutes of a large download – and they’re getting ready to do an upstream boost with up to 1meg of upstream power.
