Remote does not work! Why?
It’s a 2002 Toshiba DVD/VCR combo 20″ TV. The remote quit working (NO, not the batteries!). I Tried 2 universal remotes using the Toshiba codes. Nothing. What could have happened?
It is possible the infra-red signal receptor on the unit is either blocked or damaged. There should be a little red circle somewhere on the front of the television. Is there something in front of it? That could affect the reception of the remote signal. Since universal remotes don’t work, I suspect the damage is in the reception, or that you may have inadvertantly locked out the signal reception through your TV set-up menu. I would read your owner’s manual to see if this is a possible problem. Since it is a 2002 DVD VCR combo 20″ and they sell so cheaply, I suggest skipping the remote and buying a new Combo:
A brand new one from Toshiba, same size is only $249.99 or so. If that sounds too expensive, then the easy solution is get off the couch until you can afford the new one. Sorry! Wish I had better news.
